Shaping written information...
Observation is key, but how many people actually look that closely, how important is it? What makes good type? I love typography, sitting there move letters about until the sit together nicely, moving it back and forths, back and forths, tweaking the kerning slightly, changing the stoke, size etc. But I need to learn more and research more, read more, get a better understanding of it.
